Your Role

As our Senior Tooling Designer, you will partner closely with foundry tooling engineers and pattern makers to translate casting requirements into robust tooling solutions:

  • CAD Modeling & Surfacing: Create accurate 3D models from 2D layouts, perform complex surfacing tasks, and calculate pattern offsets to ensure dimensional precision.
  • CAM Support: Provide CNC toolpath-ready models and detailed geometry information to CAM programmers for efficient machining of patterns and cores.
  • Documentation & Drawings: Produce comprehensive build, assembly, and material-takeoff drawings for the pattern shop; respond to design inquiries and coordinate material orders.
  • Process Improvements: Recommend new tooling technologies and rework strategies; lead training sessions for pattern personnel to elevate shop capabilities.

Requirements

What You Bring

  • CAD Mastery: Minimum 5 years of 3D CAD experience with surfacing, non-uniform shrink/draft application, and conversion of 2D layouts into precise 3D models.
  • Tooling Expertise: At least 5 years designing molds, cores, and patterns with a deep understanding of pattern offsets and stock-material calculations.
  • Proven Track Record: Solid work history demonstrating reliability, attention to detail, and continuous design innovation.
