You will prepare accurate returns, organize client documents, and keep work moving with clear, friendly communication.

What you’ll do

• Prepare individual and small business tax returns using firm tools and checklists.
• Gather missing documents, keep organized client files, and move work through the portal and paper workflows.
• Handle data entry and light bookkeeping in QuickBooks for annual catch-up projects.
• Communicate clearly with clients by email and phone about statuses and next steps.
• Partner with owner for reviews, learn from feedback, and steadily reduce corrections over the season.

What makes you a fit

• Basic accounting knowledge and comfort with financial statements.
• Attention to detail that shows up in accurate numbers and clean files.
• Professional, clear written and verbal communication.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar bookkeeping software is helpful. 
• You enjoy fast, focused work and you ask good questions when something is unclear.
• Students at the junior, senior, or master’s level in accounting are welcome if you can commit to the schedule.

Schedule and location

• On-site in Wichita, Kansas, at S&S Accounting. In-office to start, with potential to earn limited hybrid flexibility as trust and proficiency grow.
• Seasonal assignment from January 5 to April 15. Average 20 to 30 hours per week. Evening or weekend time can be accommodated if preferred by the preparer during peak weeks.

Pay and perks

• Pay: $23-28/hour, based on experience and independence with tax prep.
• Season completion bonus: A retention bonus at season end is offered.
