Job Description

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the inspection and testing of products throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring that all products meet established safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role involves managing both incoming and final product inspections, supervising quality control personnel, and driving continuous improvement efforts to maintain product quality and process efficiency.

Job Details

  • Position Type: Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)
  • Pay Range: $52,000 - $60,000 per year (depending on skills and experience)
  • Work Location: Onsite – Sterling, IL

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead in-process and final inspections, making decisions to accept or reject products based on adherence to specifications.
  • Supervise and manage daily activities of the Quality Control team, ensuring adequate shift coverage and manpower for planned inspections.
  • Assign inspection tasks and projects to team members based on workload and priority, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
  • Prepare and maintain Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) for products that fail to meet specifications during inspections. Actively participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to address and resolve quality issues.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehouse, and other relevant departments to ensure consistent quality and timely resolution of issues.
  • Monitor day-to-day activities and identify gaps or problems, taking corrective actions to meet quality goals and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of inspections, including NCMRs and other quality-related documentation, in compliance with ISO/IATF standards.
  • Oversee the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, optical comparators) to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Enforce adherence to quality policies, procedures, and 5S standards within the department, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and quality policies and standards, fostering a culture of safety and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Competencies

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in using a variety of inspection equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and gauges.
  • Strong basic math skills to perform accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on team development, collaboration, and achieving common goals.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Education: High School Degree (or similar)
  • Experience: Proven experience in 5+ years in quality assurance, ideally in a leadership role (Lead, Supervisor, etc.).
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred, particularly in a regulated or precision-driven environment.
  • Experience with ISO/TS 16949 or similar quality management systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Required to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and stooping required.
  • Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments.
