Job Title: Sterilization TechnicianJob Description The Sterilization Technician is responsible for sterilizing and delivering reusable dental instruments. This role includes sterilizing and monitoring equipment within the department, maintaining an organized and clean work area, and processing sterilized items for departments and students. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Responsibilities + Sterilize and deliver reusable dental instruments. + Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment. + Ensure the work area is organized and clean. + Process sterilized items for various departments and students. + Perform other duties as required. Essential Skills + Proficiency in sterile processing. + Knowledge of aseptic techniques. + Experience with surgical instrumentation. + Understanding of sterilization processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma or GED required. + Six months experience in a dental or medical area preferred. + Knowledge of dental instruments and their maintenance is preferred. Work Environment The position is based in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery within a School of Dentistry. The environment is fast-paced, requiring the processing of over 1000 instrument cassettes per day with 2-3 turns per day. The schedule is Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some days starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 4:30 PM. On Fridays, the department closes at 2:00 PM.
