• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Cybersecurity is necessary.
• Educational background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer-related field.
• A strong understanding of principles, theories, standards, practices, protocols, and procedures in Cybersecurity and Linux Administration.
• Ability to engage in critical thinking and adapt in a dynamic, agile environment, balancing leadership roles with executing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge equivalent to the Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC-2).
• Proficiency in using network scanning and vulnerability tools and interpreting outcomes.
• Working knowledge of networking, virtualization, Storage Area Networks (SANs), Cloud, and related technologies.
• Extensive working knowledge of Ubuntu products, including Ansible Tower, Apache/Nginx, Database systems (Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, Postgres), Docker/Kubernetes, RAID storage, Landscape, Networking, and Ubuntu Satellite.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, enabling clear communication with co-workers and customers, including drafting concise reports on technical processes.
• Capability to operate various electronic devices, including standard office equipment, phones, and security appliances.
• Understanding of Cybersecurity vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, and network architecture, along with the ability to apply security controls.
• Comprehension of policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to meet physical requirements necessary for performing assigned tasks effectively and safely.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain Ubuntu desktop and server systems within a large-scale, geographically dispersed enterprise.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate technical issues related to Ubuntu systems, network infrastructure, and virtualization environments.
• Participate in incident response efforts to identify, contain, address, and remedy cyber threats.
• Support forensic investigations and incident response initiatives, involving monitoring of IDS/IPS, SIEM tools, endpoint protection platforms, email gateways, firewalls, and network infrastructure.
• Review, identify, report, and assist in mitigating cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
• Conduct vulnerability scans on network devices for compliance with configuration baselines, documenting and reporting findings.
• Validate the effectiveness of security tools implemented in the environment.
• Support the design, implementation, and upkeep of both new and existing security infrastructure capabilities.
• Aid software developers in CI/CD pipeline processes, emphasizing automated security and compliance scanning and remediation.
• Conduct cybersecurity compliance activities, including unauthorized device discovery, policy violation site surveys, and enforcement of network access controls.
• Assist in the coordination, management, and reporting of the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
• Document system configurations, processes, change management activities, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Create and maintain knowledge-sharing resources as well as peer training materials.
• Research, compile, and analyze technical and cybersecurity data to aid informed decision-making.
• Use established standards and technical knowledge to troubleshoot problems and complete assigned projects.
• Collaborate with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM), Information System Security Officer (ISSO), and Program Manager for Engineering to carry out their responsibilities.
• Independent direction from senior staff while proactively analyzing and communicating needs and performing additional tasks as assigned by management to support team objectives and organizational goals.
• Manage, update, and oversee technical tasks and service tickets within Jira and related systems.

This role offers a full-time, on-site opportunity in Las Vegas, Nevada, with no remote telework unless specified. Short-term travel may be required as directed by management. Our standard schedule is Monday to Friday, during regular duty hours (7:00 AM to 3 PM PST), which may vary based on mission requirements. The position involves physical activities such as walking, climbing, standing, and lifting materials (maximum unassisted lift of 50 lbs, average lift under 35 lbs). The candidate must be prepared to work in a data center environment, which includes moving, upgrading, and installing telecom/server equipment.
